Moderate FODMAP Dairy

Is Clotted cream Moderate FODMAP?

In small portions, yes. Clotted cream is mostly fat, so a spoonful on a scone carries little lactose. Large portions add up, so it sits in the moderate band.

Clotted cream is around 55 to 64% fat, so it contains much less lactose per spoonful than milk or yogurt. Monash has not lab-tested clotted cream itself, but regular cream is low FODMAP at about 2 tablespoons (40g) and moderate from about a quarter cup. Treat a thin layer on a scone as a small portion, and test your own tolerance before going back for seconds.
