I built GutLedger because I have IBS and couldn't find a simple, private app that did everything I needed. No big company, no data harvesting — just one person who gets it, building the tool I wish I'd had.
The core app is free — Pro features are a one-time £5.99 purchase. I’d really appreciate your feedback — it helps me make it better for all of us.
Three simple steps to understanding your gut.
Quickly log meals, symptoms, mood, stool, sleep, and water. Takes seconds, not minutes. Auto-suggestions and barcode scanning make it even faster.
GutLedger analyses your entries to find correlations between what you eat, how you sleep, and when symptoms appear. Connections you'd never spot on your own.
Armed with data, make informed changes to your diet and lifestyle. Share detailed reports with your GP or dietitian at your next appointment.
Ten types of health logging, designed to be quick and easy.
Log meals and drinks with descriptions, photos, and notes. The built-in FODMAP database auto-tags foods as low, moderate, or high FODMAP. Drinks are tracked separately so you can spot triggers like coffee, alcohol, or fizzy drinks.
Record exactly what you're feeling with 10+ symptom types, severity ratings, and duration tracking. Understand when symptoms hit and how bad they get over time.
Track your emotional state alongside gut symptoms. Rate mood and stress on a 5-point scale to uncover the gut-brain connection in your data.
Bristol Stool Scale classification with urgency tracking. Add private photo records for medical consultations — automatically blurred until you choose to reveal them.
Log which night you slept and when you woke up. Rate sleep quality on a 5-point scale to see how rest affects your gut the following day.
All drinks count towards your daily fluid target. Quick-select common drinks like water, tea, and coffee, or add your own with approximate quantities.
Log periods and track your cycle phase. See how hormonal changes affect your gut with period overlay on all calendar views. IBS symptoms often vary with cycle phase — now you can see why.
Follow a structured 3-phase FODMAP elimination protocol with guided reintroduction challenges. The gold standard approach recommended by dietitians, built right into the app.
Log medications, supplements, and remedies with the time and dose taken. See whether specific treatments correlate with better or worse symptom days over time.
Start each day knowing where you stand. Your daily gut score is a composite of recent symptom severity, sleep quality, stress, and hydration — giving you a single number to track over time.
Create and name weekly meal plans to build your safe-food rotation. Assign meals to days, then log an entire day’s eating in seconds — ideal for sticking to a low-FODMAP routine.
The timeline view organises all your entries by time of day — morning, afternoon, and evening — with colour-coded cards for each type.

GutLedger analyses your data to find patterns you'd never spot yourself.
A 60-day recency-weighted decay algorithm identifies trigger foods with confidence ratings — recent correlations count more than old ones. See confidence %, symptom frequency, and your top triggers per food.
Discover which foods lift or tank your mood. Time-windowed analysis compares what you ate with how you felt in the hours that followed.
See how your sleep quality relates to symptom severity the following day. Poor sleep often means worse gut days — now you can prove it.
A GitHub-style calendar showing your symptom patterns over the last 3 months. Instantly see good weeks, bad weeks, and whether things are improving.
Track your symptom frequency, mood averages, and food variety week over week. Spot the long-term trajectory of your gut health.
See the ratio of low, moderate, and high FODMAP foods in your diet. Get a clear picture of your FODMAP load and how it maps to symptoms.
Get grouped food suggestions based on your history: safe picks that never caused symptoms, recent meals for quick re-logging, and foods you haven't tried in a while. Trigger warnings shown inline.
After logging a known trigger food, GutLedger calculates when symptoms typically appear and sends you a heads-up notification. Be prepared before symptoms hit.
Need a loo in a hurry? One tap opens your maps app to find the nearest public toilet. No extra permissions needed — your maps app handles everything.
See when your symptoms most commonly strike — morning, afternoon, or evening. Use this to time meals, medication, and activities around your gut’s natural rhythm.
See how your daily hydration level correlates with symptom severity. Many IBS sufferers find dehydration is a hidden trigger — this analysis helps you prove it for your own body.
470+ foods categorised by FODMAP level based on Monash University research. When you log a meal, GutLedger automatically tags each food item and warns you about known high-FODMAP triggers.
Your health data deserves the highest level of protection.
Protect your health diary with fingerprint or face authentication. The app locks automatically when you switch away and requires biometric unlock to access.
All data stored in a local SQLite database on your phone. Nothing is ever transmitted to any server. We literally can't see your data.
Sensitive photos (stool logs) are automatically blurred in previews. Tap to reveal only when you need to. Your privacy is respected at every level.
Zero analytics. Zero telemetry. No ad SDKs. No data brokers. GutLedger doesn't even require an internet connection to work.
Unlock the full toolkit with a one-time purchase. No subscriptions, no recurring fees — pay once, own it forever.
Everything people ask before they download.
Yes. GutLedger has no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics SDKs. Your diary lives in a local SQLite database on your phone and never leaves it. Even I, the developer, can’t see your data — there’s no server to store it on. The app works fully offline and requires no internet connection to use.
The free tier covers the entire core experience — food diary, FODMAP auto-tagging, symptoms, stool, mood, sleep, hydration, meds, period tracking, meal plans, daily gut score, and timeline. Pro (a one-time £5.99) unlocks the analysis engine: trigger-food detection with confidence ratings, the 9-sub-screen insights dashboard, guided FODMAP elimination, barcode scanner, stool photos, PDF doctor reports, CSV export, and predictive alerts. No subscription — pay once, own it.
GutLedger is live on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store — just search for “GutLedger” or tap the download buttons above. Updates roll out automatically through your phone’s usual app store. The same features and pricing apply on both platforms.
GutLedger includes 470+ foods categorised as low, moderate, or high FODMAP based on Monash University research. When you log a meal, the app auto-tags each ingredient so you can see at a glance whether you’re loading up on triggers. It supports multi-word matches (“ice cream”, “soy sauce”) and works through barcode scanning with offline caching in Pro.
Yes. Pro includes PDF doctor reports with your symptom history, food patterns, and trigger analysis — ready to email or print for an appointment. There’s also CSV export for your raw data if you want to analyse it yourself or hand it over in a structured form.
Pro includes database backup & restore — export your entire diary to a file and restore it on a new phone with a tap. Your data stays yours; I just give you the keys to move it around.
No. GutLedger is a tracking and pattern-spotting tool, not a diagnostic device. It helps you gather the data and observations that make conversations with your GP, gastroenterologist, or dietitian more productive. Always follow the advice of a qualified clinician for your actual treatment.
I built it alone. I have IBS myself and spent years juggling a Notes-app diary, a separate FODMAP reference, a symptom app that wanted a subscription, and a mood tracker that sold my data. GutLedger is the one-place-for-everything tool I wished existed. Feedback from real IBS users shapes what I build next — there’s a feedback link in the app and on this page.
No accounts. No cloud sync. No analytics. Everything is stored in a local database that never leaves your phone. I can't see your data even if I wanted to.
Read Our Privacy PolicyI'm building this on my own alongside managing my own IBS. Your feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.
